Facing fierce competition for qualified candidates within the next generation talent pool, IHG needed to find ways to connect with and engage the tech-savvy gen Z audience. IHG turned to partner Sanger & Eby to leverage the powerful mobile job search and apply functionality they created together for the global careers website to effectively target these candidates.
Sanger & Eby had the challenge of integrating existing design elements into the mobile job search and apply framework to create a seamless user experience across all platforms and devices.
While a large percentage of hospitality hiring is location-based, that’s often not the case for interns and recent graduates, who may be willing to relocate long distances to fulfill their career objectives. We redesigned the career search to be less location-focused and to provide an experience that showcases all early careers opportunities in a single view.
Emphasizing IHG’s global presence, the early careers website is available in 14 languages, so users are able to explore career opportunities in their preferred language. The layout flexes to accommodate differences in language length and orientation while elegantly retaining the design aesthetic.
The early careers website launched in early February 2019. With the job search and application fully optimized for mobile, the experience was tailored to the needs of the early careers audience making it easy for generation Z candidates to find jobs regardless of platform or device.
