A social recruiting strategy and training program helped a Fortune 500 retailer ramp up quickly on a whole new channel, connecting them with top talent and reinforcing the company’s focus on innovation.
Macy’s recruits and hires thousands of candidates every year, ranging from seasonal store associates to top executives. The company needed to raise visibility of key positions with the Macy’s recruiting pool and increase the quality and quantity of prospective candidates. Recognizing new social channels for recruiting would enable them to achieve those goals, Macy’s asked Sanger & Eby to develop, execute, and train the Macy’s recruiting team on a strategy utilizing social networks and platforms.
Sanger & Eby executed research and developed social media strategies for two primary channels: executive recruiting and college recruiting, with tactics and recommendations based on the habits and practices of each target audience. We also developed editorial calendars for each target, and led execution of the strategies for the first 18 months of the program, providing ongoing training, coaching, and support to the Macy’s recruiting team. The Sanger & Eby team carried the developed strategies through the design, layout, and customization of each platform, ensuring the Macy’s employment brand equity was reflected holistically across all touchpoints.
Macy’s now routinely sources top quality candidates across a range of strategic social platforms, and has realized a competitive advantage against top companies. The Macy’s Talent Acquisition team has touted the project as an immense success, and continues to partner with Sanger & Eby for recruitment initiatives across a wide range of tactics and projects.
